The On-Call Behavioral Health Technician provides on-call coverage for NOVA treatment programs as needed.  On-Call Behavioral Health Technicians will fill in for full-time and part-time staff in case of illness, vacation, holidays, conferences and other times when scheduled staff is unable to cover their shift.  On-Call Behavioral Health Technicians may work any of the three shifts available. 

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

 

  • Associate’s Degree in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services or related field preferred.  High School Diploma or GED and two years experience in human services or related field required.    
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office computer software and Electronic Health Record (EHR) system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to maintain complete and accurate records.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Ability to work with minimal direct supervision.
  • Ability to be flexible to work all three shifts and days, including weekends and holidays. 
  • Must work a minimum of three shifts per month to include weekend shifts.
  • Valid driver’s license that meets agency standards and ability to meet transportation needs of agency.
  • Acquire and maintain certification in First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).

Major Responsibilities

 

  • Provide on-site supervision of program members and ensure that all treatment activities occur as scheduled
  • ???????Assist in the supervision of program members in treatment and/or school activities, including housekeeping activities, group facilitation, recreation and leisure time activities in order to insure an environment that is conducive to the physical, emotional and social well-being of all program members.
  • Maintain an accurate clinical record that documents program member’s daily progress utilizing agency format and standards for clinical recording.
  • Meet the transportation needs of the community.
  • Conduct routine security checks i.e. room searches, head counts, alarm checks etc.
  • Intervene and de-escalate volatile situations including physical aggression and property destruction utilizing NOVA TC’s Crisis Intervention Policy and techniques as taught through the Crisis Prevention Institute if needed.
  • Maintain confidentiality of clinical records and program member identifying Information in accordance with Federal Confidentiality Regulations and HIPAA.
