JOB OVERVIEW

Responsible for the clinical supervision of the Respiratory Therapy staff and for the development of the clinical skills of the respiratory therapy professionals.  Responsible for delivering and/or delegating patient care, including patient and family education and training.  Work will be performed in an ethical and legal manner following organizational policies, processes, protocols and procedures. Responsible for quality service delivery and internal/external customer relations for Madonna as a whole, including upholding the mission and values for the department and facility.


ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Coordinate, analyze and compile short and long term goals for the development of clinical programs and individual staff.
  • Plan, coordinate and maintain current documentation for education and professional development of staff.
  • Maintain and update clinical service manuals, including those for orientation and education.
  • Compile, record and analyze information through chart audits in order to ensure quality documentation and care delivery.
  • Analyze outcome data related to respiratory therapy services, including program evaluation data, to give direction and manage the clinical provision of services.
  • Synthesize, analyze, compile and record current research articles to keep the professional/clinical services current with the latest research, as well as for the development or expansion of services.
  • Contribute to the developing, writing and implementation of operational definitions to promote consistency of operations.
  • Monitor patient billing system to ensure patients are properly charged for services rendered.
  • Monitor, analyze and ensure routine documentation of safety inspections and take action when needed.
  • Compile clinical service information and communicate to staff in a timely manner.
  • Perform job duties of staff respiratory therapist as outlined in that job description.
  • Assists with planning recruiting activities; acts as a divisional representative on recruiting trips.
  • Assists with interviewing and hiring new staff.
  • Communicates regularly and effectively with the clinical manager in order to achieve identified goals and objectives of Patient Care System and programs.
  • Works effectively with community groups and organizations who impact or have an impact on service delivery.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
    Medium work with frequent lifting.  Manual patient transfer or reposition which does not exceed the equivalent of 35 pounds of force to lift, push or pull. Requires sufficient strength to produce 50 pounds of force to push a wheelchair with a 300-pound individual on level surfaces. Constant walking with maximum duration of up 30 minutes sustained walking on tile, carpet and other surfaces. Must tolerate frequent standing with sustained periods of up to 1 hour on tile, carpet, and shower surfaces. Must tolerate frequent sitting with sustained periods of up to 1 hour.


    QUALIFICATIONSGraduate of a COARC-approved program of Respiratory Care required with at least two years experience.
  • Must possess valid Nebraska Respiratory Therapy license and CPR.
  • Valid NE driverâ??s license
  • Registration by the National Board for Respiratory Care and ACLS certification preferred.
