Responsibilities
 

DATA MANAGEMENT ANALYST

OPPD's Data Management Analyst is responsible for developing, analyzing, reviewing, and maintaining Data Management solutions for electric utility business purposes and providing self-service support for business users.  Duties includes:

Responsibilities:

Data Management (DM) Solution Development:

  • Participate in creating documentation of DM landscape components;
  • Translate complex functional, non-functional and technical requirements into DM solution;
  • Perform unit and integration testing to ensure DM solution components perform according to requirements;
  • Contribute to continuous data quality improvements;
  • Help develop governance processes around data assets;
  • Adapt DM solutions to new requirements;
  • Adhere to and support continuous improvements of code management and DevOps processes;
  • Provide production support and share on-call duties with team;
  • Collaborate with other teams to ensure integrity, security, quality and availability of DM solution delivery; and
  • Comply with DM, data governance, and software development standards;

 

Self-Service Support and Consulting:

  • Provide statistical expertise, data analysis and DM solution design support to business partners;
  • Advocate for DM and help business users adapt to and utilize modernized DM landscape;
  • Prepare and conduct training on DM tools/concepts and data utilization;
  • Provide frequent updates to business partners on new DM platform features and enhancements to Data solutions; and
  • Support continuous improvement of Self-Service model;

 

System support and maintenance:

  • Provide production support for BI and data asset related issues;
  • Support data governance; and
  • Ensure compliance with DM and software development standards;

Data Modeling:

  • Design and implement data modeling solutions to ensure data is properly structured and organized for analysis;
  • Implement business and IT data requirements through new strategies and designs across all data platforms and data tools;
  • Work with business to implement data strategies, build data flows, and develop conceptual/logical/physical data models;
  • Define and govern data modeling and design standards, tools, and best practices for enterprise data models;
  • Identify architecture, infrastructure, interfaces to data sources, and tools supporting automated data loads, security concerns, analytic models, and data visualization;
  • Perform hands-on modeling, design, configuration, installation, performance tuning, and sandbox POC; and 
  • Proactively address project requirements and articulate issues to reduce project delivery risks; and

 

Meta Data Management:

  • Develop metadata system to store and organize metadata;
  • Monitor system performance, diagnose and troubleshoot issues to optimize system performance;
  • Process, clean, and integrate metadata from various sources to ensure that metadata is accurate;
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including Data Management, DM analysts, and business stakeholders to ensure that metadata system meets requirements;
  • Analyze, investigate, and respond to requests for additional metadata from business partners and industry standards;
  • Identify gaps in currently available metadata and propose improvements in metadata management processes or tools;
  • Support proper communication regarding metadata changes to business partners ans
  • Ensure metadata is provided to business partners in line with the business partner data sharing framework and industry standards

Qualifications

 

Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or a closely related field (foreign equivalent accepted) and 3 years' experience in data management solution development or a Bachelor's Degree in Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, Business Intelligence, or a closely related field (foreign equivalent accepted) and 5 years' experience in data management solution development.

 

Required experience must include experience in:

  • Software engineering;
  • Data analysis;
  • Data visualization;
  • Data cleansing;
  • Metadata management;
  • Data quality management;
  • Database architecture;
  • Data integration;
  • Data processing;
  • Data warehousing;
  • Business requirements gathering;
  • Deployment of enterprise data solutions;
  • Relational databases and SQL standard languages T-SQL and PL/SQL;
  • Presenting DM solution overviews and recommendations;
  • Data integrity and data governance concepts; and
  • Source control and code management.

    NOTE: All OPPD positions in the US may be subject to background checks and/or pre-employment drug testing.

        Salary:  Pay rate starts at $111,488 per year.

Location of EmploymentLocation: 444 South 16th Street Mall, Omaha, NE  68102.  May work remotely from home from any location in the Omaha, Nebraska/Council Bluffs, Iowa metropolitan statistical area.
