Summary:

The Associate Project Manager - Major Projects supports program managers and other project team members with the execution of project functions including schedule, financial, and risk management, report creation, and project communication. This position will also support the Senior Director and Project/Program Managers with coordination activities across the portfolio of work.  This role is intended gain experience and learn the role of project manager.

Position Specific Responsibilities/Accountabilities:

  • Project Initiation: This position coordinates the activation and facilitates the operation of projects in the portfolio. This would include but not limited to project artifact creation and management such as project scope of work, budget/forecast/actuals reporting, risk registers, and document management systems.

 

  • Project Identification & Planning: Support Project/Program Managers with collaboration across all functions to facilitate the identification, scoping and planning of new projects. Ensure intersections, dependencies, and deliverables are communicated and reported. 

 

  • Project Execution: Supports assigned responsibilities for any/all projects in the portfolio with effective and systematic progression from the point of initiation to benefits realization. 
    • Facilitate the development of progress reporting and presentations for projects, help prepare approval for work stream project management plan(s) and facilitate communication within and among work streams. 
    • Coordinate the reporting for the adherence to allocated budget and the design of ongoing budgetary requirements for projects. 
    • Build and maintain effective relationships with all project stakeholders including the strategic partners supporting the execution of work and key suppliers of material and construction labor.
  • Team Coordination: Serve as a point of contact for team members needing information or access to project tools and data. Coordinate with Project/Program Managers in the development of the processes, procedures, budget and monitoring. Respond to issues that require support to correct. Plan and collaborate to eliminate/minimize all manner of project conflicts, including the hosting and recording of meeting content and decisions. 
  • Status Reporting: Prepare accurate project documentation and reporting for leadership and business partners. Analyze project data across the portfolio to provide required information to help communicate project progress and adherence to project expected outcomes

 

Qualifications

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum of 1 years of project management experience relevant electric utility project experience. 
  • Ability to work with complex project financial artifacts, project financial forms and portfolio and project reporting.
  • Ability to coordinate between various departments impacted by project scope.
  • Ability to provide metrics on assigned projects.
  • Competency in project management tools and basic office programs (MS Project, SharePoint, PowerPoint, MS Office).
  • Ability to work in an environment of uncertainty and incomplete information and bring clarity.
  • Effective time management.
  • Self-motivated multitasker with the ability to work unsupervised.

Desired:

  • Experience working with Asset Suite, PeopleSoft Financials and/or other project financial reporting systems.
  • Bachelor¿s degree OR minimum of 4 years of relevant work experience. 
  • Formal Project Management Training with an interest in the project management profession.
