SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Support the infrastructure essential to end users in achieving business goals. Gain and use technical experience with standards, policies, practices, and procedures to provide support for certain infrastructure hardware and system software components while also serving as a backup (secondary) support individual to other assigned infrastructure components. Assist in performing installations, upgrades, and may provide consulting assistance for assigned infrastructure components. Become knowledgeable in monitoring and troubleshooting of assigned infrastructure components, and assist in the configuration, implementation, and support for the company’s IT disaster recovery plan.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS
1.Learn and assist in providing support for network server hardware and operating system software needs.
2.Learn and assist in performing server hardware and software installation, upgrades, and problem resolution.
3.Learn and assist in implementing and monitoring system backups and recovery activities.
4.Collaborate with the primary contact on designing, upgrading, installing, and supporting network components, including switches, firewalls, and access points.
5.Learn and assist in supporting the implementation and maintenance of an effective disaster recovery plan.
6.Learn and assist in monitoring and use of configuration tools to accomplish tasks, monitor systems performance, and resolve issues.
7.Assist in researching network hardware and software issues to meet future needs.
8.Provide secondary support and solution options for desktop hardware and software issues as needed.
9.Learn and assist in monitoring and maintaining network security, proactively applying software patches, and resolving network security issues.
10.Assist in diagnoses and troubleshooting of hardware and software problems.
11.Learn and develop/maintain infrastructure documentation and operating procedures; provide input to policy, procedure, and standards development where possible.
12.Perform all other duties as assigned by management.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES:
•Organizational and multi-tasking skills, as well as base oral and written communication skills.
•Proven ability to learn technical aspects of a subcomponent of a computing infrastructure environment.
•Capability to create and maintain detailed documentation.
•Capability to work well with other IT personnel, users, and vendors in a professional manner, maintaining a positive attitude.
•Proven ability to solve problems.
**WORK ENVIRONMENT/TRAVEL DEMANDS:
The worker is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (as in typical office or administrative work).
Travel demands for this position are estimated up to 0%. If travel is required, this travel may include customer visits, events/trade shows, and completion of presentations primarily throughout Domestic US or International regions. Employees must comply with all travel recommendations regarding “safe travel” according to company policies and guidelines, and all federal, state, local, and international orders.
**PHYSICAL/MENTAL DEMANDS:
Medium work exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 5 pounds of force constantly to move objects. This also includes standing for up to two and a half hours consecutively, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, reaching, stooping, fingering, and grasping. Expressing and receiving detailed information through written and oral communication. Also has an ability to make sound, appropriate, and prompt decisions within the guidelines of the role.
